A basement electrical malfunction at Sacred Heart Hall caused an $2 million fire that gutted half of the landmark St. Francis Preparatory School near Spring Grove. Fairfield Twister Knocks Down Trees Near Wagaman Home
A tornado described as a twister struck Monday afternoon in Fairfield, ripping aluminum siding, snapping a rear utility pole, and cutting power to the Wagaman residence at 32 Cove Hollow Road. Richard E. and Diane E. Wagaman, plus son Ryan, 13, were home. about 10 trees fell, some 30 feet tall, with no glass breakage reported and insurance covering the damage. The family described feeling a rumbling before the house was struck and Mrs. Wagaman said she felt nervous upon return.
