John D. Baker Dies Sunday at 58 in Harrisburg
John D. Baker, 58, of Gettysburg R 3, died at 5 30 Sunday evening at Harrisburg Poly Clinic Hospital after a period of illness. A native of Lewistown PA he was son of the late John Baker and Elizabeth Tener Baker of Lewistown. He worked 28 years as a clerk at Reading freight stations in Gettysburg and Harrisburg before his illness and was a member of multiple local organizations including the United Methodist Church Biglerville Eagles Moose Arendtsville Fire Co Grey Squirrel hunting lodge and others. He was survived by his mother and other family.

Two motorists were slightly injured in county road crashes over the weekend per state police. Miss Murren Crowned Adams County Dairy Princess 1973
Angela Murren, 18, daughter of Mr and Mrs Thomas Murren of Hanover R 4, was crowned the 1973 Adams County Dairy Princess Saturday night at Biglerville High School. She succeeds Susan Waybright with Claudia Hill as runner up and five other contestants named from area towns. The contest, judged on appearance poise and knowledge of the dairy industry, will lead Murren to compete for the State Dairy Princess title in Harrisburg September 26 at the All American Dairy show.

Red Cherry Institute To Meet Here
The National Red Cherry Institute and the Cherry Administrative Board will hold their annual spring meetings at the Sheraton Inn, with attendance expected from Michigan, New York State, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. The two day session opens with a business meeting to discuss crop promotion, merchandising, and a coming year budget. New trade relations director Mark A. Stillman will speak, followed by a USDA fruit season report and talks on cherry grade standards and a Michigan State University pilter project. A noon lunch precedes an orchard tour, including Knouse Foods in Orrtanna. The USDA 1973 cherry crop estimate will be released in Washington at 3 pm. An all industry buffet will be hosted by President Weiser and family at York Springs. A dividend of 25 cents per share was declared by The Adams County National Bank for stock dated June 10.

Ernest Plank Dies At 83 In Gettysburg Area
Ernest D Plank 83 of Gettysburg R2 died at 12 30 Sunday morning after long illness. He was son of the late Samuel D and Margaret I Plank and worked as a mechanic for 22 years with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the Musselman Division of Pet Inc. He also helped build the Little Pentagon near Zora. Survived by wife Mary Bishop and nine children including Robert Plank Gettysburg R2 John Plank Lexington Park Md Philip Plank Nester Calif and several daughters. Also 22 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren. Funeral Tuesday at 2 pm from Peters Funeral Home with Rev Dr Warren C Johnson. Interment in Fairfield Union Cemetery.
