Russell Staley Arrested on Larceny Charge
Russell Staley of West Middle Street was arrested Wednesday afternoon by Trooper G. A. Hahn and Constable C. H. Wilson on a charge of larceny by hailee. CG, A. Myers of York prosecutes. Staley allegedly bought tires from a Chicago mail order house on installments and sold them before completing payments. He furnished $150 bail for the August term of court.

Memory tribute marks opening of 64th Williamsport conference
The sixty fourth annual conference at Williamsport opened with a tribute to late Rev. Dr. Harry Daniels of Shickshinny and noted five ministers died since last year. The Rev. Herbert Beam of Gettysburg and other Adams county Methodists attended. Ministerial appointments will be announced next Tuesday. Central Pennsylvania gains included 1 400 new members, 5 674 conversions, and a total conference membership of 102 810. World service gifts totaled 160 146 with 43 715 raised for conference causes and 173 600 spent on improvements and debt retirement. The figures show about a 10 percent decline from last year. Bishop Francis J. McConnell presided. W. W. Banks reelected secretary and H. F. Brumbaugh treasurer. T. Max Hall elected statistician.
