Groups teach about effective parenting
Community agencies offer two programs to improve parenting skills PET and STEP. PET through Adams County Family Planning Center in Gettysburg runs eight three hour sessions with certified instructors and optional sex education. cost 35 dollars. STEP run by Gettysburg Junior High and YMSP uses two hour and ninety minute sessions nine weeks, with no charge for STEP though workbook costs five dollars. Both stress communication, behavior theory, natural consequences, and role playing to teach parents to handle child behavior and foster relationships.

Bendersville Post Office to move into Ogden Decker plant
The United States Postal Service will relocate the Bendersville Post Office from Main Street to the former Ogden Decker furniture plant on Carlisle Street. Rampike Industries will lease the building for 14,700 dollars a year for 10 years with a five year renewal option. The move, requested by retired post clerk Mrs Dyson Kennedy, expands space from about 300 to 1,100 square feet and adds off street parking and new lock boxes.

The Adams County Earned Income Tax Collection Agency expects to finish the fiscal year with about 312 million in total revenue. Half funds local schools and half goes to 29 municipalities. an extra 150 thousand comes from a district wage tax. The one percent earned income tax and other taxes were set in 1965, with agencies collecting via employers and quarterly remittances. Delinquent accounts lead to civil or criminal action. April 25 is filing deadline.
