Gettysburg council approves parking department and rules

Gettysburg Borough Council adopted an ordinance creating a parking department with defined powers and duties and approved prohibitions on parking on both sides of North Washington Street between West Stevens Street and West Lincoln Avenue. The measure was amended to extend the no parking zone along North Washington Street from Chambersburg Street to Racehorse Alley.

New Oxford Antique Market Show Set

The 34th Annual New Oxford Antique Market Arts Craft Show will be June 16 from 8 am to 5 pm in New Oxford on Route 30 ten miles east of Gettysburg. Dealers from Maine to the Carolinas attend. 140 dealers, 125 artists and craftsmen, and about 30,000 visitors expected. Upper Adams adopts lifelong learning motto and actions

Upper Adams School District adopts Learning A Lifelong Adventure as its motto after a board study. The district plans remedial three week courses in core subjects for local and neighboring students, with 63 percent of the Class of 1990 pursuing further education and a Spain trip for Spanish and social studies students.

The Mi nority Youth Educational Institute at Gettysburg College begins its second year with 14 new members joining 14 current youths. Under Dean Harry B. Matthews and Assistant Dean Kimberly R. Hicks, the group focuses on leadership, cultural heritage, and community service while planning a 10 week orientation with a special dinner.
