Oxford Twp Leads County in Industrial Tax Valuation
Oxford Township has the largest total assessed valuation of industrial property in Adams County. Seven local industries valued at over 4.19 million dollars drive an assessment of about 1.68 million, representing 20.5 percent of county industrial valuations though only 6.6 percent of properties. Conewago Township is second with 12 industries valued at 4.15 million and 1.63 million assessment. Gettysburg lists 14 industries but a modest 478 thousand tax assessment.

Honeymoon Fire Delays Gillian Cramer wedding trip to Montego Bay
Frank D. Cramer II and his bride left their wedding reception at the Holiday Inn and shortly after two blocks from the venue their borrowed Ford Torino caught fire. Local firemen extinguished the blaze causing about 100 dollars in damage to the vehicle owned by George Scarpate. The best man drove the couple to Baltimore to catch their honeymoon flight. The couple married earlier at Zion United Church of Christ Arendtsville.

A Stonesifer Dies At 75 In Orrtanna
Alvah Lyle Stonesifer 75 of Orrtanna died Sunday at Warner Hospital after two years of ill health. Born in Page County Virginia he lived in Orrtanna 64 years. He owned a local grocery for years and later worked for Adams County Novelty. Survived by wife Edith Daugherty two sons a daughter nine grandchildren 21 great grandchildren and a sister. A 21 year old Pennsylvania National Guardsman Pte. Dale I. Kime of Bendersville died when an armored personnel carrier overturned during a weekend training at Carlisle Army Ammunition Plant. Several guardsmen were thrown from the vehicle with minor injuries. He served with Headquarters Troop First Squadron 14th Armored Cavalry and was a member of Bendersville Wire Co PA Fire and Police Association and Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Survived by wife Susan and son Jeffrey. Services Tuesday.
