Fire Sweeps West High Street Complex Killing 58-Year-Old Man
A fire at an apartment complex on West High Street early today killed 58 year old Harvey Lewis. Firefighters found him on the kitchen floor at 142 West High St after responding around 4:16 am. The blaze gutted Lewis’s bedroom and spread upstairs, damaging neighboring units owned by Allen E. Weikert. Estimated damage is $25,000. Fire Marshal Richard Guckelberger and local marshal Charles Kerrigan investigated. Two Gettysburg firefighters were treated for minor injuries. six Littlestown firefighters assisted after 5 am. Funeral arrangements are through Monahan Funeral Home.
