About 600 Littlestown taxpayers crowded a budget hearing for the 1990-91 school budget of 9.3 million dollars, a 17 percent rise. They criticized administrator salaries and questioned enrollment projections as the board eyes final approval by July 1.
Tyrone Township officials hear that Walnut Grove Park developers will reduce the project to 1.71 lots on 88 acres along Old Business Route 15 south of Heidlersburg. Richard Krill of Tyrone Village Inc. says a 50 plus age targeted group is being considered to address concerns, though legal risks were noted. Further research planned as plans evolve.
Catoctin High School honored 167 graduates during the 21st commencement. U.S. Rep. Beverly Byron urged global awareness and lifelong learning as key to future success in a changing world. Awards and diplomas were presented by Principal Earl F. Miller and Sue Rovin.
Adams County Board of Commissioners backed the 1990 bridge maintenance project by Macomber Associates Inc. and authorized preliminary work to replace Stone Jug No 1 over Conewago Creek. The project could cost about 465000 for a new bridge with 345000 for construction and bids due spring 1991.
Adams County officials discussed using eminent domain to acquire land owned by Jack Davis of 480 Pumping Station Road to reroute Waterworks Road. A new bridge costs about 250000, while the road and land total under 50000, with an ambulance access concern on the old Eisenhower bridge and 10 families affected. The commissioners meet Wednesdays at 9 a.m. in Annapolis Annex and invite public attendance.
