New Oxford grads challenged by state senator at ceremony

State Senator Ralph Hess challenged New Oxford High School’s 78th graduating class at the stadium. He told the tale of a young man failing to enter West Point, noting doubts about leadership but praising the graduate’s later success in the Army Ranger and paratrooper units. He urged the students to find belief in themselves.

Fairfield grads hear success story from Fairfield Class of 1990 speaker

Fairfield High School graduates heard guest speaker David L. George, a 1958 classmate from Waynesboro, urge belief in oneself and perseverance. He discussed leaving college, returning to education, and building multiple businesses while noting society shifting toward a technical economy and the value of a college path for greater opportunities.

New Oxford man’s death ruled robbery homicide

York City police treat the New Oxford graphics artist George E. Costella Sr. as a robbery homicide after his body was found in Poor House Run near the York County Prison. Autopsy cited head trauma and water exposure. glasses and car found at the scene. Detectives work around the clock as toxicology pending. Services planned for Monday. obituary on page 2A.
