Liberty Township OKs SCATCOM Cable Franchising Tentatively

Liberty Township Supervisors tentatively approved a SCATCOM cable TV franchise with a four year completion clause. The plan guarantees service to increasing township portions yearly and ties utility use to Adams Electric Co operative for load control, with a projected $15 monthly rate and 18 to 21 channels.

East Berlin Council OKs Low Bid to Paint Water Tower

East Berlin Borough Council tentatively awarded the water tower painting contract to Corrosion Control Inc. for 14,345, the lowest of seven bids. Work includes interior and exterior painting, disinfection, and should take about 60 days starting within a month, funded partly by federal revenue sharing.

Adams County bids opened for 1859 courthouse renovation

Adams County Commissioners opened bids Tuesday for renovating the 1859 Adams County Courthouse. Proposals cover general construction plumbing electrical and HVAC work with total costs projected between 439 222 and 532 399. Seven local contractors submitted bids among 20 overall bids, with McDonnell Construction Co. Gettsyburg low on general work at 141 232 and Eschenaur's Inc. Harrisburg 15 429 on plumbing.

Maryland Education Board Postpones Emmitsburg Hearing

Maryland state officials delay Thursday hearings on the Emmitsburg middle school consolidation to next Tuesday. ECC co chair Gail Graff says Dr Eugene McLoone will review busing impacts for grades six to eight and may testify in July if needed. The ECC plans affidavits and fundraising events including A Night at the Races June 5 and a June 19 Gigolo band dance at Mount Saint Mary's Student Union.
