Adams County Prisons to add eighth guard and courthouse renovation

Adams County Salary Board approved an eighth full time prison guard at a yet to be set salary to handle higher inmate numbers now about 60 daily. The wage board also announced Aug 2 as the start date for a $439,222 renovation of the 1859 Adams County Courthouse expected to finish by year end.

Location sought for town's Post Office

The U S Postal Service seeks bids to construct a new post office for Cashtown within its boundaries. The current site is on William Singley’s ground floor. Skunkman of Gettysburg Traps Pests With Patience and Peppery Pets

Gettysburg borough worker Earl H Wimp Kauffman 43 known as Skunkman TM traps and relocates marauding skunks over four years. He calms frightened animals, uses tomato juice to remove odor and releases them 17 miles away into state forest lands after collecting seven to eight at a time. He keeps them in a pen between trips and checks nine traps daily, noting spring and summer see peak activity from garbage and compost piles.
