84 Degree Heat Marks 24 Hour Period Ending Wednesday

The Times Today reports a high of 84 degrees for the 24 hour period ending 5 p.m. Wednesday with 82 degrees on Wednesday afternoon and a low of 57. No precipitation was recorded by Eisenhower National Historic Site weather equipment. Thursday brings sunny and pleasant conditions with highs in the low to mid 80s and light northwest winds. Thursday night remains fair with lows in the low 60s. Friday forecasts partly sunny highs 80 to 85. Precipitation near zero percent Thursday and Thursday night. Saturday and Sunday look fair with a chance of showers Monday as temperatures stay warm with mid 50s to mid 60s lows and 80s highs.

Residents to get new Gettysburg area addresses by fall

Adams County Planning Commission officials said rural route residents in the Gettysburg ZIP area will receive new house numbers and street names by Sept 1, with Gettysburg postal workers delivering both old and new addresses for a transition period. The project aims to improve rapid location for police fire and ambulance calls and will extend countywide street naming and numbering.

Four hurt in York County head-on collision

A Gettysburg area woman, Brenda J. McKelvey, 20, was in serious condition at York Hospital after a head-on crash on Business Route 15 near York Springs. A southbound truck driven by Michael A. Treeka, 24, of East Berlin, swerved to light a cigarette and collided with the northbound van. Also injured were Matthew A. McKelvey Jr and a one month old passenger, Natrilla Slaybaugh. all were treated at area hospitals. The van and truck sustained heavy damage. investigation is ongoing.
