Fairfield board moves to enforce amusement tax from Ski Liberty

Fairfield Area School Board unanimously authorizes its solicitor to enforce the districts five percent amusement tax on Ski Liberty Inc. if the resort does not comply by July 26. Oxford Township warned on taking over Walnut Lane sewer work

The Oxford Township supervisors faced warnings to avoid assuming maintenance of Walnut Lane in the Oxford Estates until sewer system flaws are corrected. Upper Adams hires new principal as Shoemaker exits

The Upper Adams School District action at a Monday night meeting saw Arendtaville Elementary Principal William Shoemaker resign to take the Rolling Acres Elementary post in Littlestown after 10 years. Gayle Griffie, a 19 year Upper Adams veteran and current fifth grade teacher, will become principal. The board also hired Charles Addins as band director and Dave Brown for industrial arts. Shirley Cashman becomes Arendtsville Elementary cafeteria manager. Roofing bids were partially resolved with Kelly Roofing awarded the high school project at 28,782, while Bonded Applicators Inc. bids were deferred for review. A second roofing contract will be decided August 9 after site studies. A 2,400 sound system contract went to Jeff E. Cramer Electronics, and adult football tickets rise to two dollars.

Construction Plan Changes For Concession Stands At Littlestown High

Littlestown School Board met Monday to approve changes to the 22,603 project for new concession stands on the high school field. The plan adds a third service window, cutting extra cost to about 500 to 600. Also approved a 24,985 bid for a 1983 Ford school bus from Wolfington. The board kept student insurance with Reliance and PIAA with district paying for varsity football coverage. policy details clarified by Superintendent Moyer.

Thefts dominate Adams County juvenile cases study

The Adams County juvenile probation records show thefts and misdemeanors form most delinquency referrals, with 139 cases in 1981 up 51 percent from 1980. Males greatly outnumber females, average youth age is 15, and most cases come from police or schools. Several youths avoid court via informal adjustment or consent decrees, while about 46 percent reach an adjudication hearing.
