Adams County Man Receives Liquor Law Sentences

Judge Oscar F. Spicer sentenced Jerome Oliver Gearsburo R. to two sentences of one to three months and fines totaling 3200 after pleading guilty to selling beer and vodka without a license to two state troopers on April 21. Oliver’s jail term was suspended for one month to allow payment of costs and fines. Vera Lee Dixon 35 of Biglerville pleaded not guilty to assault and concealed weapon charges and requested a jury trial. Dixon allegedly injured Johnny Lee Burns of Chambersburg Jan 7 at the Hideaway Restaurant near Caledonia. She was returned to Adams County last Thursday by Sheriff Bernard V. Miller, who had Miller picked up Dixon in Macon Ga where she was arrested after leading Adams County authorities to a case involving Tommy Anthony Davis. Davis 293 W Middle St Gettysburg 02 theft of services charges continued to next date. Davis allegedly failed to pay a bill at the James Gettys Hotel.

Vance Meets Dayan In Peace Session

U S Secretary of State Cora Vance met Israeli Foreign Minister Moshe Dayan in a last minute effort to break the deadlocked Israeli Egyptian peace talks near an English castle south of London. Israeli official said little progress emerged from the two day talks between Dayan and Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohammed Tantawi.

Four Burglaries Reported in Littlestown Area

State police investigate a rash of break ins in Littlestown area since Monday. Notable thefts include a summer cabin owned by WM Dunera in Littlestown Germany Two stories south of Littlestown. Other homes on Old Weston Rd Union Two and St Luke's Church Rd Litlestown Two. Police urge anyone with information to contact state police.

Burglary Suspect Held for Court After Bail Set

Harold R. Deardorff and Garza faced burglary charges after a home break in the township area. Deardorff remained free on 22.0W bail while Garza was located by Sarasota police and returned to Adams County. Sheriff Bernard released Deardorff on bail following continued court action.

Civil War Wax Museum Nominated For Honor

Gettysburg Pennsylvania reports the National Civil War Wax Museum of Gettysburg is nominated for the Pennsylvania Travel Excellence Award by the Pennsylvania Travel Industry Advisory Council. Executive Director James Cole praises its 200 life size wax figures across 35 scenes depicting Civil War antagonists and key Gettysburg events. Museum manager James Behm notes authentic materials and even life expectancy details in the figures.

Multiple Accidents Leave Three Injured Across Area

Three people were injured in several traffic crashes this morning as area police investigate. Two men were hurt in a three vehicle collision on Jack's Mountain Road near Fairfield at 9 35 AM and were taken to Warmer Hospital as injuries were treated. A separate crash on Rt 20 near Gettysburg Country Club left a woman injured and transported to Warmer Hospital. Firefighters aided at both scenes while state police and local authorities continue inquiries. No one was injured in a second two car collision on Rt 30 near Pine's Gift Shop and another two car crash on Baltimore Street near the high school saw no injuries.

The Bonneauville Council discussed delinquent water bills at a lengthy meeting. Truck Tr actor Burns and Trailer Escape Fire Near Five Points

A truck tractor pulling a semi trailer loaded with 29,000 pounds of tobacco caught fire near Five Points east of Edinburgh at 12:2 a m. Operator Davis, age 27, escaped and managed to detach the tractor from the fire-damaged trailer. Loss estimated above 17 1y8. Fire crews also handled minor grass fire near Grossing and a fire reported near New Oxford but cancelled.

Poisonous mushrooms surge after rains in Adams County

Rains bring an unusually large crop of wild mushrooms in Adams County with about a dozen poisonous species. Dr Ralph Cavaliere of Gettysburg College warns many mushrooms are toxic and difficult to distinguish from edible meadow mushrooms. He notes trips to fields and yards often lead to poisonings, with cases sometimes reported to Annie Warner Hospital.
