Weather Outlook Shows Heat Wave With Humid Afternoons

Tyrone Two Settles Suit Over Building Permit Fees

Tyrone Township and Bruce W. Cochrane, former code enforcement officer, settled a $9,443 claim he owed for issuing eight building permits to AMGRAR Inc. The suit, filed in Adams County Court, had alleged the township altered the fee schedule to reduce a $12,492 application fee, entitling Cochrane to 90 percent of legal fees. Teacher layoffs may hit county in gloomy year

A survey by the American Federation of Teachers predicts nationwide 59,000 teacher layoffs next school year with about 5,000 in Pennsylvania. Swedish student visits Adams County family

Swedish 12 year old Karin Nystrom visits Fairfield family after arriving from Gotland Sweden. She tours eastern United States with the Duchnowskis visiting Baltimore Washington Philadelphia Gettysburg and plans to return to Sweden with souvenirs and memories. The two families plan future visits and ongoing correspondence keeping Gotland and Fairfield connected.
