Comco pitches for York Springs cable franchise

Three companies including COMCO Ltd and SCATCOM will seek York Springs cable rights. COMCO has been authorized to conduct a feasibility survey while Telecable Communications plans a future presentation. Officials cite program variety and FCC rule changes as factors in evaluating economic feasibility.

Bermudian Springs Hikes Lunch Prices to Offset Loss

Bermudian Springs School Board approved a five cent increase for elementary middle and high school meals and a 15 cent rise for adult meals to cover an estimated 15 500 deficit in the 1982 83 cafeteria budget. Reduced lunches also rise to 40 cents while the program continues to reimburse 20 cents.

Former Gettysburg College treasurer F Stanley Hoffman dies

F Stanley Hoffman 74 of 107 West Broadway Gettysburg died at Gettysburg Hospital after being stricken Tuesday afternoon. A former teacher, contractor and banker, he served Gettysburg College as business manager from 1956 to 1977 and was director emeritus of Gettysburg National Bank. He was active in civic groups and chaired the Gettysburg Planning Commission. He and his wife Dorothea Baker had four children. Funeral arrangements by Monahan Funeral Home were incomplete Tuesday night.

Water rates rise 25 percent in Biglerville

The Biglerville Council approved a 25 percent increase to water rates to cover a projected deficit of over $20,000 in the borough water company. The move, unanimously supported aside from one abstention, aims to keep the system self sustaining after a prior private owner sale. The council also approved a $65,000 bid to buy the fire house property on York Street and arranged a 99 year lease back to the fire company. Nassaux-Hemsley plans a sewer smoke test within two weeks to spot illegal inflows and leaks.

Widening Route 15 in Gettysburg Faces Funding Hurdles
