Lebanon man ends three day robbery and hostage spree

Police said William J. Eck, 82, of Lebanon, ended a three day robbery and hostage taking after abducting another person. Eck was arrested in a Brodheadsville parking lot after a statewide manhunt involving Adams York and Frederick counties. He faced nine Lebanon County charges including kidnapping and armed robbery and was jailed on 350000 bail pending a preliminary hearing.

266 acres bought for battlefield

The Richard King Mellon Foundation will donate 266 acres near Gettysburg to the National Park Service as part of more than 21 million dollars in land deeds to be handed to the Interior Department and EPA. The East Cavalry Field site adds to Gettysburg National Military Park and spans Strahan and Mount Pleasant townships.

Shooting suspect at large after Franklin Township shooting

Police search for Salvador Moreno 23 of Pleasant Valley Roads after a Saturday night shooting at 981 Boyer Nursery Road left Claudio Santiago 47 in serious condition at York Hospital ICU. The incident followed an altercation with Moreno’s brother Rodolfo who fled after a crash. Moreno returned and shot Santiago with a 357 magnum, authorities say.
