The Adams County Beef Producers Association will hold its annual Beef Ball on February 10 at Schortes Lint. Todd Rhodes chairs the event which features a parade of county top cattle including Roxal Leige and J. D. Polled Herefords. Special guest Dieter Kriegediur of Lancaster will receive an industry award. The program begins at 8 pm with a cocktail hour, dinner, dancing, and music by a US band from 9 pm to late. Tickets are £18.50 per couple, available in advance or at the door.

Jet Engines Stall On National Flight Over Atlantic
National Airlines Flight 120 carrying 103 Newark-bound passengers experienced a simultaneous stall of all three jet engines at 33,000 feet over the Atlantic. The plane dropped to 25,000 feet in about 60 seconds before power was restored. Pilot Renaldo Anilo reported the first engine stall at 16 13 a.m. The FAA noted such single engine failures are not unusual.

Helicopters Help Blizzard Victims
US Army helicopters and engineers moved into the Midwest to aid in a blizzard aftermath that shut down industries and stranded travelers. Nine weather related deaths were reported nationwide as governors appealed for emergency help. A curfew was ordered in Indianapolis to curb looting while states mobilized resources. Governor Milliken of Michigan described the grim situation as resources exhausted.
