Weather Improves After Cold Gusts Fire Destroys Barn

Despite 33 to 40 mph winds and 20 degree cold Adams County roads and schools faced ice and closures as floods eased. A morning fire at Thomas H. Raver’s farm near Littlestown caused 15000 to 30000 dollars damage to a large barn and cost 4000 two day old chicks. Fire units from Littlestown Greenmount Harney and Kingsdale battled the blaze amid water shortages and wind. Budding spring weather returned enough to curb floods though lingering ice and cold kept motorists cautious.
