Three-Year-Old Trapped When Tree Falls on Home

Ralph Bole of 83 Pifer Lane New Oxford narrowly escaped serious injuries when a large oak toppled into a bedroom at 7 Main Street trapping him. Firefighters freed him. he was treated at Hanover Hospital for a head cut and released. Fire Chief Richard C Stpe noted the tree crashed through the room and crews braced the roof while snow was cleared from next door buildings.

State Horticultural Association Sessions Open in Hershey

The 119th annual meeting of the State Horticultural Association of Pennsylvania opens Tuesday at the Hershey Convention Center. New Trials Granted in Two Adams County Gambling Cases

Judge John A MacPhail ordered new trials for James Waiton Cunningham and Burnell Walter Wagner after ruling LCB officers exceeded authority in obtaining evidence. He cited fourth amendment rights violations over punchboards seized or guarded during arrests. Wagner’s case mirrored Cunningham’s, applying the same grounds for a new trial.

The Gettysburg-Adams County group plans a membership dinner Friday at the Sheraton Inn with nine directors to be elected to the board of trustees.
