Motor Voter suit cites Pennsylvania

Attorney General Janet Reno sued Pennsylvania and two other states to enforce the National Voter Registration Act. The act, nicknamed Motor Voter, requires voter registration through driver licenses, mail, and social service offices. California Governor Pete Wilson vetoed compliance legislation and sought to overturn the federal law. Neither the Indian nor the Pennsylvania legislature acted on compliance in 1994.

Ridge urges change in Pa. crime laws

Gettysburg district advances on 124 acre high school site

The Gettysburg Area School District held a one hour legally required hearing on Mehring farm land in Straban Township as a step toward purchasing the 124 acre site for a new high school. The purchase agreement totals 849400 dollars at 6850 dollars per acre with zoning residential and several environmental and utility conditions in progress.

Gettysburg Area School District Seeks 124-Acre Site

Gettysburg Area School District considers a 124 acre Strachan Township site for a new high school with conditions including a July 1 1995 settlement, a January 23 site hearing, five of nine director approval, and permits from multiple agencies. The district must secure 15600 gallons per day sewer and water capacity from Gettysburg Municipal Authority, address wetlands, driveways, education approvals, historical and archeological permits, and land suitability from the architect.

Straban Township OKs 4 Percent Pay Raise and Zoning Changes

Straban Township Supervisors approved a 4 percent raise for employees tying to the cost of living, enacted a minor emergency management update, and within 25 minutes reviewed a zoning change for an equipment auction business along Old Harrisburg Road. They also discussed a proposed composting plant at a township site slated for business park development, with 22 questions prepared by an advisor to seek more information before any zoning change.
