New Adams County farmland preservation chair named

Thomas Clowney, long a farmland protection advocate and 58 year old Adams County farmer, was named chairman of the Adams County Agricultural Preservation Board. He oversees county actions under the Agricultural Area Preservation Act of 1988, with Adams County’s program among the state’s largest, funded by $3 million for development-right purchases.

Arendtsville District Justice Office Closed

Adams County chief judge has closed the Arendtsville district justice office of Harold R. Deardorff for administrative reasons. Hearings will continue in Arendtsville for now, but most business moves to Fairfield. Future of Districts Four and Five unclear. Deardorff notes the DJ is the first contact with the legal system.
