Fire in Kitchen Causes $1500 Damage Near Twin Oaks
Gettysburg and Heidelberg fire crews confined a grease fire to the Barbara Shadie home kitchen on Route 15 near Twin Oaks at 5 17 p m yesterday. First Assistant Fire Chief David Staub says the fire began with cooking grease from french fries. Estimated smoke and fire damage totaled $1500.

Steel Shed Roof Breaks Under Snow Near Gettysburg
A newly built steel storage shed valued at £25,000 collapsed at Charles Davies Used Auto Parts on Highland Ave ten miles southeast of Gettysburg on Monday. The roof failed under heavy snow while no one was inside, with witnesses hearing a sound like a roaring truck. The collapse trapped a crane and lifted a yard truck's front about nine feet. the building had just been completed before Christmas.

Blood Bill May Cut Local Replacements
Harrisburg reports indicate a proposed state bill would end the requirement to replace blood used in transfusions or pay a replacement fee. Drivers Escape Injury In Crash Mt Pleasant two-car wreck at Rt. 30 Bonneauville Rd intersection
State police reported no injuries after a two-car collision near Mt. Pleasant at the Rt. 30 and Bonneauville Road intersection. Richard A. Smith, 17, of Chambersburg, failed to stop at a stop sign and broadsided eastbound Lee Weaver, 21, of Hanover, driving a 1977 Chevrolet Camaro. The 1968 Pontiac LeMans and Camaro were demolished. The crash occurred at about 4:50 p.m. Monday, about two and a half miles west of New Oxford.
