Evelyn K Beaver retired after 42 years owning a beauty shop. She previously worked for Mrs Mil le Roberts from 1938 to 1947 before opening her shop on Nov 7 1947. About 45 friends and relatives attended the Jan 13 gathering at the Reaver home, with cards flowers and a rose cake. Forecast shows variable cloudiness Monday with highs in the low 40s and southwest winds near 10 mph. Monday night will be mid to upper 20s. Tuesday brings mostly sunny skies with highs 40 to 45. Wednesday and Thursday stay partly to mostly cloudy with chances of showers, rain or snow showers, and flurries north Friday.
Officials said unregistered gallons can contact the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources and local fuel distributors will assist with tank registration. Stations closing underground tanks must drain, clean, and seal with slurry or sand, likely widening rural driving and shrinking mom and pop outlets as larger stations rise.
