Gettysburg College Receives 850000 Bequest from Richard Shay

The estate of Richard Shay class of 1928 leaves Gettysburg College over 850000 for its endowment. Shay stayed involved with the college, served on the Alumni Association and Board of Fellows, and supported Lutheran churches a hospital for crippled children and the YMCA. He worked for Bethlehem Steel until 1973 and was superintendent 1956 to 1968.

Local group tackles Charnita problems

A ten member advisory group formed to find a workable solution to tax and assessment problems in the former Charnita development area began discussions last month. Chairman John S. Callenbach said a final verdict may be years away as the Southwest Adams County Ad hoc Committee studies issues including an $800000 federal tax lien, potential sewage system acquisition, and reassessment challenges in Carroll Valley Borough and parts of Hamiltonban Liberty and Huntington Townships.

Homebuilders year is worst since 45

Gettysburg College Choir to Tour 14 Spring Concerts

The 72-voice Gettysburg College Choir under Dr Russell P Getz will present 14 concerts across Pennsylvania Maryland Ohio and Illinois from January 29 to April 1 with performances set in St Pauls Littlestown Cumberland Friedens Springfield and Chicago venues among others. The tour opens January 29 at St Pauls Littlestown and includes stops in Cincinnati Rockford Bay Village and Johnstown.
