Arguments for a New Trial in Sullivan Case

Arguments for a new trial were presented in county court on behalf of Daniel L. Sullivan of New Oxford who was convicted Oct. 5 of a terrorist charge. Attorney Daniel Wolfson contended the defendant’s rights were violated when he indicated during the trial that he wished to fire his attorney and defend himself, a right the court did not allow to be exercised. Wolfson argued the judge erred by denying a mistrial during jury selection and said such behavior by the defendant was improper in court. John A. MacPhail ordered that if the motions succeed, Sullivan will be sentenced accordingly.
