Weekend Fire Calls Keep County Departments Busy
Multiple county fire companies fought fires and assisted others from Saturday through Sunday. Pennville crews helped Hanover hospitals staff limit a television fire on the second floor of Hanover General Hospital, then aided Grangeville and Parkville at a chimney fire on Fame Avenue. Fairfield and Fountaindale units contained a plastic waste basket blaze at a Miller Road plant and later a chimney fire near Fairfield. Aspers crews battled an engine compartment fire in a 1969 Cadillac stranded on Aspers Center Millis Road. Fairfield and Cashtown tackled a chimney fire on Fairfield Ormanna Road. McSherrystown stood by at an electric pole fire on Academy Road.

Brantner Seeks New Ct Trial In Double Murder Case
Post trial motions and arguments for a new trial in the case against Harry James Brantner move forward in county court tomorrow. Brantner was convicted last May 7 on two counts of first degree murder for the November 1976 killings of Robert Witta II and Julia Egnatowsky in a cabin off Route 3 near Cashtown. The jury imposed death for Eg natowsky and life for Witta. Brantner’s lawyers contend the death penalty is cruel and unusual and juror confusion affected verdicts. Balloting delays postponed prior hearings into the matter.

Miss Hope Ball Invites Pennsylvania Nurse As 1977 Hope
Miss Carla Kronmuller of Phoenixville has been named Miss Hope of Pennsylvania. She will attend the Miss Hope Ball February 4 at Carroll Valley Golf Club to benefit the Adams County American Cancer Society unit. Kronmuller, a 1975 Hazel Town State General Hospital Nursing School graduate and Phoenixville Hospital nurse, is the sixth nurse to hold the title.
