County Officials Map Furnishings for New Court House
County officials and department heads will meet next week to determine equipment and furnishings needed for a new county courthouse. Construction aims for year end or early next year but has faced weather delays and material shortages. The planning session followed a meeting with the Adams County Housing Authority representatives about federal funding for low cost housing.

Sen Hubert Humphrey Dies After Long Cancer Battle
Longtime U S senator Hubert Horatio Humphrey known as the happy warrior died at 9 25 pm CST after a prolonged cancer fight. He was 66 and passed at his lakeside home near Minneapolis. His death follows a career as vice president under Lyndon Johnson and the 1968 Democratic presidential candidate.

Two Fatal Accidents On County Roads Friday
Adams County reports two deaths on snowbound roads Friday. Sherman Newberry, 69, crashed on Leedy Road near Gettysburg. Glenn Stonesifer, 34, died after his pickup hit a rear of a PennDOT plow truck on Rt 149 near Littlestown. Coroners ruled Newberry died of a heart condition before impact. Stonesifer suffered a fatal neck and internal injuries. Funeral plans set for Monahan Funeral Home Gettysburg.
