Adams County Judge John Kuhn is to announce at 10:30 a.m. whether Carl G. Woerner of Cumberland Township is guilty or innocent of charges including indecent assault and corrupting the morals of a minor. The non jury trial followed contested constitutional questions and emotional testimony from the teen involved.
Police from Cumberland Liberty and Hamiltonian Townships joined forces with Bonneauville Gettysburg Carrell Valley Abbottstown and Bigler officers at a street scene involving a handgun. Authorities coordinated response and secured the area as investigations continued.
Liberty Township Police Chief James Holler said a male teen in Fairfield area was talked into handing over a .22 caliber handgun after a 20 minute dialog. The preliminary hearing for Jeremiah D. Reynolds 17 of Sabillasville Md has been continued to an unspecified date. Reynolds and Clayton W. Faxon 16 also of Sabillasville are charged with the murder at Blue Ridge Summit Highs Dairy Store on December 20 Faxons hearing remains set for January 27 at 2 30 p m Faxon has had one prior continuance and more delays are common in such cases
Gettysburg College simulations named a winner in a national contest for innovative software in physics education. Project CLEA joins six winners including Harvard Smithsonian C A C, University of Washington, Bowling Green State University, Oberlin College and Davidson College. Honorable mentions go to North Carolina State University, Loyola University Chicago, Loyola College and Computers Sciences Corp. Glenn Snyder, research associate.
Gettysburg National Military Park Superintendent John Latschar announced a plan to partially restore Oak Ridge land traded to Gettysburg College. The proposal, costing 2.5 to over 3 million dollars, includes ridge reconstruction, removing an unfinished west spur, engine shed, and landscape changes. The plan, endorsed by officials, aims to address past damage and NPS credibility while sharing costs with private parties.
James Holechek, Baltimore, leads an effort to buy and raze Gettysburg National Battlefield Tower and replace it with a conference center. He plans to partner with Gettysburg National Military Park officials to bring in a developer for a Gettysburg battle and Civil War study hub.
