Deer overpopulation confirmed at Gettysburg park
A three year study by Penn State researchers reports the Gettysburg National Military Park hosts far more white tailed deer than guidelines permit. Resident herd numbered 1254 in 1988, with substantial damage to woodland regeneration and farm crops. Park Service will draft an environmental impact statement before actions.

The Adams County Habitat for Humanity buys 35 West St from Adams County Interfaith Housing for 1. Volunteers led by board president Richard Waybright will rehab the house into a single family dwelling, with completion expected by mid summer. NASA reports Columbia astronauts captured the 11 ton Long Duration Exposure Facility 200 miles up using the robotic arm at 17 400 mph. Dan Brandenstein guided the shuttle as Bonnie Dunbar secured LDEF and photographed it for four hours before stowing it for return.
