York Springs Borough to borrow 39000 for water system work

York Springs Borough Council adopted a resolution to borrow 39000 to fund a water system project. The loan adds to 80000 already on loan and a 50000 emergency note, aimed at securing an adequate water supply amid droughts and loss of sources. The plan centers on developing a new well behind York Springs Elementary School, a costly effort due to its distance from the reservoir. Relationships: legal opinions warn the borough risks overextending borrowing, while interest rates are expected near municipal low rates. The council discussed an ambulance loan and possible state subsidized loans for a volunteer fire company, pending tax‑exemption status. Chester Hellman retained as water manager. Wadel Jr. named council president, Sharon Sontheimer vice president, Kenneth Kemper treasurer.
