A video titled Ghosts of Gettysburg by Greystone will be previewed on the live TV show Second Edition. The program airs Thursday on Adams Community TV channel 25 at 7 30 p.m. and Friday on Pa Classic channel 12 after 6 30 p.m. in Adams County.
The third of five killers who tunneled from a Florida prison was arrested in Miami on Wednesday. Police had earlier killed one escapee and captured another after two homeless men yielded a $20,000 reward by guiding officers to the fugitives. Officer Jairo Lozano spotted 32 year old Hector Rivas and took him into custody without incident.
The 79th Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg draws visitors from across the state to view agricultural exhibits. Attendees explore fruits vegetables and PA products from Round Hill New Oxford and Knouse Musselman in Adams County. Highlights include a World War II butter sculpture and student recipe booklet from HACC with crafts and dishes.
Gettysburg PA. Steven A Williams deputy executive director of the Pennsylvania Game Commission was fired after a three month inspector general probe. Williams says he will seek legal counsel while the commission reviews the action. The probe reportedly examined altered hiring dates to extend staff tenure.
An appraisal from Treffer and Associates estimates the 307 foot Battlefield Tower and related property at 6.638 million using the cost approach. The Gettysburg Times notes the unique nature of the site and that neither cost, market, nor income methods fully apply, with the tower built for 19 million by Realty Engineering Inc.
In Waynesboro Jeremiah Reynolds 17 and Clayton Faxon 16 face preliminary hearings over the December 20 slaying of Gretchen C Groff at the Blue Ridge Summit Dairy Store. Reynolds goes first at 1 30 p m before District Justice Larry Pentz. Faxon has a hearing January 27 at 2 p m. Both face criminal homicide robbery theft and conspiracy charges with potential adult trial.
Adams County Commission voted to apply for a Keystone Recreation Park and Conservation Fund Technical Assistance Grant to support a countywide recreation needs assessment. The grant would supplement the ongoing RIRA study, costing $75,000, and align with the county's Comprehensive Plan.
Truck driver Mark A. Orndorff of Hanover, 35, sustained serious injuries to both legs and was flown to York Hospital after a crash on Route 94 near Round Hill Road south of York Springs. He was trapped for nearly two hours as responders freed him from his 1985 International Tractor with dump trailer. The other vehicle, a 1994 Toyota Colica GT driven by Tobie Groft of York Springs, slid across lanes, spinning onto the east shoulder. Route 94 was closed about four hours.
