Explosion Fells Home. Musselman Family Homeless Near Littlestown

A fiery blast leveled a two and a half story remodeled home on White Hall Road, leaving Harold Musselman and his four relatives homeless. Fire crews from Littlestown and nearby townships battled subzero winds and smoke for hours, while investigators probe whether propane lines or an oil furnace caused the incident. Donations are being sought for clothing and essential items.

Gettysburg Board approves trial course in parenthood

Gettysburg School Directors approved a six month fall course for pregnant teens, run by Youth Mal Service and Wee Care Day Centers, allowing participants to stay enrolled while attending two two hour sessions weekly. The program omits graduation credits but aims to keep students engaged, offering nutrition, prenatal care, family planning, infant care, money management and job counseling.

Hope To Raise 1000 For Fuel Bill Aid Auction Sale

South Central Community Action plans a white elephant sale and public auction at the American Legion Building to help local families with emergency heating fuel costs. Executive Director Jean Odum says the goal is 1000 dollars, supplementing 75 dollars given to 39 families earlier this year. Auctioneer Larry Peters will oversee Saturday’s sale, with Friday’s hours 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Donations of antiques clothing and household items are requested. large items may be picked up.

Police Charge Trio In Cashtown School Theft

State police charged a Gardners area adult and two juveniles with burglary theft and receiving stolen goods over a Cashtown area burglary at Franklin Twp Elementary School on December 26. Israel Nieves was arraigned and released on bail. two juveniles face similar charges in Adams County Juvenile Court. Five of nine cassette tape players and two radios were recovered, along with $12 in cash. Police also investigated the theft of two rear wheels and tires from a 1972 Chevrolet on Ri. 30 east of town.

Woman Hurt In Accident Involving Jeep And Bus

Several traffic incidents on ice led to injuries and damage across multiple locations. Lianne D Mover, 26, of Shippensburg, suffered a broken arm when her jeep rolled on Old Shippensburg Road. Ann Gills Fairfield, 1, was in a collision with a PennDOT snow plough on Rt 116 in Carroll Valley and taken to Waynesboro Hospital. A 16-year-old will face hit and run charges after backing into a Gettysburg School District bus on Mummasburg Road.

Local C of C Reorganization Set For Feb 2

The Gettysburg Area Chamber of Commerce schedules its 1978 reorganization meeting for February 2 at noon in the Dutch Pantry. State Sen William J. Moore and Rep Kenneth J. Cole will speak on legislative matters affecting industry and business and answer questions. Receipts totaled 73 with expenditures of 33.13077 from the general fund. Police answered 29 calls in December.

Brandywine Tradition Outlined In College Talk

Anne Moyer of Gettysburg College described the Brandywine tradition founded in 1990 by the late Howard K Prie as a moving force in American art.
