Weather outlook shows mostly clear skies and very cold conditions. Highs reach the mid to upper 20s with northwest winds 15 to 25 mph. Tonight remains clear with lows 10 to 15. Sunny Thursday brings highs in the mid 20s.
National Park Service officials will hold a public hearing Saturday at Gettysburg Junior High School to review the draft environmental impact statement for the white tailed deer management plan. The plan proposes reducing the deer population on NPS lands through shooting and reproductive interventions to protect historic woodlots and crop fields near the Gettysburg battlefield and Eisenhower farm.
President Ernesto Zedillo signed an accord for emergency wage and price restraints aimed at stabilizing the battered peso and curbing spiraling inflation. The peso weakened further, slipping from 4.925 to 5.325 per dollar amid market fears of rising inflation.

A liquid nitrogen truck overturned on U S Route 30 about five miles east of Gettysburg, limiting traffic to one lane for about seven hours. Driver Edward B Kohler Jr 48 Lititz sustained a finger injury and was treated at Gettysburg Hospital. The Air Products and Chemicals Inc truck was left on its side after striking a guardrail and a utility pole.
Biglerville Borough Council votes 5 to 3 to waive all salaries for council members and the mayor during 1995, totaling 2640 dollars and redirected to the general budget. The move follows a prior salary increase proposal and is part of broader budget discussions and ordinances.
The 1995 reorganization at Kingsdale Fire Hall kept William Ridinger as chairman Richard Feeser as vice chairman William Bowers as roadmaster and David Krebs as township secretary. David James remains solicitor and Stambaugh Shultz as sewage enforcement officers with Gettysburg Engineering as township engineer. Adams County National Bank remains depository and Bowers was elected voting delegate for Township Association meetings. About 120 Mount Joy Township residents gathered Tuesday night to oppose a proposed co composting facility off Baltimore Pike near the Route 15 interchange on Clark Farm. County officials described Mount Joy as a backup site if Straban fails, as Adams County seeks a long term environmentally friendly waste solution with a 50 acre parcel and annual 120 tons per day.
Latimore Township supervisors decided to monitor recyclable refuse more closely after volunteers reported about 15 tons of materials arrive each Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. Nonrecyclables are bagged and left at the curb or carried home by volunteers.
