Firefighters from five companies responded to a Mount Holly home fire on Sunday causing extensive interior damage. The blaze began in the kitchen of Spiro Touloumes’s house leaving his mother-in-law unassisted outside and injuring no serious personnel.

Supervisors plan to close part of Natural Springs Road
Straban Township supervisors plan a partial abandonment of about a half mile of Natural Springs Road, a narrow two mile east of Gettysburg route between Routes 30 and 116. The move follows landowner agreement by Fred J. Hughes Monica Hughes Paul Kuykendall and Ruby Kuykendall and cites little use illegal dumping and dangerous 11 foot wide sections as reasons. The Jan 11 meeting will hear protests but path to closure remains, with Route 30 entrance kept as a dead end.

Accidents claim 12 lives in state over weekend
The New Year weekend toll in Pennsylvania reached twelve traffic fatalities. Victims included Charles Shearer 26 struck in Williamsport after a car hit a truck and several pedestrians were injured. Other deaths occurred in Philadelphia Cambria County Erie and Bucks County with charges awaiting in one case.

White House to end probe of Allen may talk to Reagan
The White House aims to finish the Allen probe by Monday paving a possible meeting between President Reagan and his national security adviser.
