Final obstacle gone construction to start

The Adams Cumberland Medical Center gains final DEA approval for an on site sewage plan clearing the way for an 8600 square foot one million dollar permanent facility. Carlisle Hospital plans extend services with a two to three hour per day physician presence now to full time after completion. The center will house family practice internal medicine surgery and urology with a small pharmacy X ray and laboratory on site to save travel time for area residents.

Adams County approves 461000 courthouse renovations

Adams County Commissioners after a Friday hearing approve a 461000 plan to renovate the Old Adams County courthouse. Architect Edward J. Adams County GOP declines state race endorsements

The Adams County Republican Committee Executive Board will not endorse a candidate in the 91st and 199th state house races. They will back a slate of statewide candidates and prefer the Republican primary winner in the two state house races. They support Gov Thornburgh Lt Gov Scranton US Sen Heinz Gooding and James Cavanaugh for the state Supreme Court. The 1st state house district now includes a northern fragment of Adams County after redistricting. The group announced an open primary and an open house March 3 from 9 am to 5 pm and urged reelection candidates for 156 open precinct posts. petions deadline is March 9 with plans for a spring fundraising dinner and candidate night.
