Franklin students own newspaper Bits and Pieces
Franklin Township Elementary School students created the first schoolwide newspaper Bits and Pieces using desktop publishing. Editors Rachel Glover and peers produced seven pages with 100 plus column inches of copy and computer generated pictures. The project, funded by federal, state, and Gettysburg district grants, aims to boost computer literacy and reading writing skills while giving every class a chance to contribute.

Bermudian Springs School Board approved multiple curriculum changes at the Tuesday meeting in the Administration Building. Adams County forms farmland preservation board in historic move
The Adams County Agricultural Preservation Board held its first meeting to address rapid loss of prime farmland statewide. Commissioner Collins urged a long term, landmark effort as administrator John J. Corris outlined seed funding of 300000 from a 2 million bond issue to support grants and matching funds. State reps Cole and Broujos praised the effort, noting farmland declines from 12.4 million acres in 1960 to 8 million by 1988 and farms from 106000 to 55000.
