Weather Update Winds Up and Down Across the Weekend

Cloudy with a 30 percent chance of light snow or flurries and high near 88 this afternoon. Mostly cloudy tonight with possible early flurries. Partial clearing, windy and colder after midnight. Sunday partly sunny with chilly highs in the mid 20s and strong winds.

Wisconsin Bald Eagles Die At Nine This Year

Two more bald eagles died in Wisconsin bringing the year’s total to nine. One bird found near Pognetio in south central Wisconsin and another about 25 miles away. Pathologists at the National Wildlife Health Research Center in Madison study liver tissue to learn if poisoning caused the deaths. Killing an eagle carries up to a year in prison and a 100000 dollar fine. The worst cluster in federal data occurred near Bismarelli Roads with 24 deaths from November to January.

Ridge's wife resigns as library director

Harrisburg report says Michele Ridge, wife of Gov. Tom Ridge, will resign as Erie County Library System director to devote time to family and community service. She managed seven libraries with a multi million dollar budget and produced a monthly public radio program on libraries across Pennsylvania Ohio New York and Canada. The Ridge family plans to move to Harrisburg after the school year ends.

Mark Spotz's mother hires noted attorney Pottsville

A Pittsburgh lawyer with a client list including Carlton Haselrig and the Chippendales dancers says he has been hired to represent accused killer Mark Spotz. James McBeker said he was engaged by Mark Spotz's mother, Jean Garkind Noupher of Clearfield County, to assist her son. Spotz has a preliminary hearing set for February 2 in DuBois.
