Gettysburg College Students Tested For Russ Flu Case

Gettysburg College is among ten colleges studied by the state health department for a flu like illness. About 10 percent of students sought care after returning from a mid winter break. Tests will take at least a week. Shumway notes no serious cases yet and advises rest and common remedies. Other schools reporting illnesses include Kutztown West Chester Villanova Penn State Penn Penn University Cheyney and Grove City.

Chimney Fire Destroys Two Rooms in Rear Farm Addition

A chimney fire gutted storage and an unoccupied second floor room in a rear addition of a farm house on Tract Road. Firefighters from Fairfield Emmitsburg fought the blaze about 3 am for over two hours to ensure complete extinction.

Lecture On Choral Music by Nathan Carter at Gettysburg College

Nathan Carter, conductor of the Morgan State University choir, will give a public lecture on choral music at 3pm on Monday February 13 in Brua Auditorium at Gettysburg College. He serves as musician in residence through March 6, lecturing to classes, rehearsing college and chapel choirs, and on March 6 conducting a workshop for eight area high school choruses culminating in a public choral festival. Participating schools include Bermudian Springs New Oxford Springs Grow Chambersburg Mechanicsburg Boiling Springs Cumberland Valley Greencastle Antrim.

Adams County SPCA seeks 100000 drive for shelter

Adams County Craft Festival Sets March Show Lineup

The fourth annual Adams County Craft Festival opens March 16 with a juried show at Gelivsburg National Bank and an exhibit at the Adams County Public Library. Barbara Spicer chairs the event, offering seven prize categories for adults and students up to 12th grade. Crafts must be original and not previously shown in bank shows. A studio tour on March 12 features demonstrations and sales from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

College Band Dinner Dance Promises Evening of Food and Music
