Building Permits Slow Down in County for January

County Assessing Department data show 23 permits issued in January, seven fewer than January 1977. Total estimated construction cost last month reached $487,225, with housing costs up over $50,000 from 1976, while 12 housing permits were issued this year, one more than last year’s 11. no outstanding permits remained, and municipal issuances included several garages, homes, and additions across Bendersville, Bonneauville, Conewago, Cumberland, Gettysburg, Hamiltonban, Huntington, Latimore, Menallen, Mifflin Joy, Mt Pleasant, Oxford, Straban, and Tyrone townships.

Three Die In Transit Junction Collision In Pittsburgh

A Port Authority trolley and a crowded bus collided during the morning rush at a transit junction. Three were killed and at least 27 injured. Mike Robbins, 20, of Brookline, was a bus passenger with a leg wound and 17 others were treated at Mercy Hospital.

41 Local Youths Set For Christian Music Mission

Forty one Gettysburg youths form The Cross and Flame Singers to tour North Carolina and Virginia churches presenting the musical Tell Like It Is. John Hauser of Biglerville accepted the honorary chairmanship of the 1978 Easter Seal Campaign in Adams County.
