Weather brief notes cold Variably cloudy with a chance of flurries today. High near 25. Northwest winds 15 to 20 mph gusty. Tonight mostly clear and very cold with lows around 15 to 16. Thursday increasing clouds but not as cold with highs in the low to mid 30s.
House Speaker Newt Gingrich criticized liberals as biased against his conservative agenda while defending his ethics and his wife’s. In Washington, lawmakers moved to restore victims’ restitution and tighten prosecutor leverage as Clinton sought to block a GOP push on 100,000 police officers. The House rejected a Black Caucus bid to replace the Fourth Amendment with a plan allowing unlawfully obtained evidence, 303 to 121.
Patrick H. Q Grawford, superintendent of Fannett Metal School District, explains the district’s view from Path Valley as he describes a 546-student, 90-square-mile area with two school buildings. He notes small class sizes averaging 15, 30 percent of graduates go to college, and 40 percent of students in vocational technical training.

Biglerville Borough Council plans bids for a deteriorating manhole near a proposed 27 unit housing project on East York Street. The project ties to a dilapidated sewer line and requires inflow mitigation funds. bids ranged from 9 655 to 16 425 dollars.
Adams County District Attorney Roy A. Keefer announced Tuesday his bid for a third term. Keefer has served as DA since January 1988 and previously was Adams County’s first full-time assistant DA. He is also an associate at Gettysburg law firm Get tysburg Heiser and McQuaide and a Dickinson School of Law graduate.
Incumbent Patricia A. Punt announced Tuesday she will run for re election as Adams County prothonotary, the civil court clerk, finishing her first four year term. She says the office has become more efficient through full time service and detailed experience, handling phones counter service and case filings. Punt, of Biglerville, is a Hamilton Township native with two children, and a Delone Catholic High School and Millersville University graduate.
