Eugene Murren longtime secretary for the Fire Chiefs and a member of multiple fire service groups has died after a period of illness. The American Host Program seeks Pennsylvania families to host 200 European teachers this summer. About six teachers will visit, traveling from Finland to Great Britain, all English proficient and self-funding with some foundation aid available. Adams County ended January 1978 with a record traffic death toll and high accident volume. Four people died on county roads tying a 1976 record. total January accidents reached 85 with 38 injuries. Severe snow and ice drove a 10 percent rise in incidents. last January saw 3 injuries in 85 accidents. Nine hit and run incidents occurred across both years. State police logged 45 traffic arrests and 179 motorist assists. other agencies reported 76 arrests and 217 assists.
