9 year old boy undergoes emergency appendix operation
Robert Felty, 9 year old son of Mr and Mrs George Felty of New Oxford, was admitted to Warner hospital at 145 this morning and quickly underwent surgery for a ruptured appendix. His condition was described as as good as could be expected. Samuel Vaughn of Gettysburg was admitted as a patient, and Fred Althoff of Emmitsburg was discharged.

Damage suit verdict favors Livingston in ensilage cutter case
A jury returned a verdict for C. C. Livingston in Hamilton township, dismissing a $103 claim by C. M. Benedict of York over an ensilage cutter sold to Adams County. The decision followed a thirty minute jury deliberation Monday afternoon. In Joy township Joseph Cool received 18 months parole for larceny after being ordered to repay up to $25 for an old rifle and cover court costs. The court approved Charles H. Wilson enacting as constable of the first ward with a $1,000 bond after a contested election with George B. Aughinbaugh. only one constable is allowed in districts with multiple precincts.

Only 31 Middies Slated to Get Naval Commissions This Year
Washington reports that 31 of 419 Annapolis graduates may receive navy commissions this year unless law changes. Admiral Upham testified that current 4 percent cap will be reached, with 31 navy commissions, 30 in the marine corps, and 3 in the supply corps. About 34 resign at graduation and 60 are physically unfit. If acted, the bill would widen officer access and avoid a future rush.
