Sign ordinance to take effect in Gettysburg January 1
After five years Gettysburg will enforce a strict sign ordinance starting Jan 1 with fines up to 100 dollars for non conforming signs. Borough officials say enforcement will be thorough and many sign owners will be notified. chains like Best Western and Quality Courts are slow to comply while McDonald’s arches already meet rules.

Dr O D Coble longtime St James Evangelical Lutheran Church Wenksife will deliver a special sermon at 9 45 a m on the church centennial. He led the Wenksville parish from May 15 1924 to May 15 1969 and oversaw building changes including stained glass, a new furnace and Conn organ. A luncheon follows the 12 30 p m service after Sunday School. The congregation traces to April 2 1836 and the Fissel School House origins.

Eight Injured In Accidents On Area Roads
A Navy couple Gregory Alan McCartney 21 and Patricia McCartney 20 from USS Davis New York and Florida motorist Donald E Mazza were treated and released after a Janesville area crash on U S Route 15 ten miles south of Gettysburg at 2 38 am.
