Snow blankets region causing widespread travel troubles

Adams Countians joined thousands of Pennsylvanians in shoveling and driving through nine to 16 inches of snow. Schools closed for Christmas break. crashes and delays noted. Ski Liberty reported 34 inch base with lifts and trails affected. PennDOT declared roads in good shape after snow removal efforts. Temperatures in the 40s with drizzle possible. some rain anticipated by night.

Gettysburg Residents Ordered Snow Cleared From Sidewalks

Borough residents must remove snow within 12 hours after a storm with the first snow of the year to be cleared by 8 p.m. Friday. Code Enforcement Officer Larry Weikert says fines from $25 to $300 and up to 90 days in jail may met for noncompliance, with daily violations accruing. Similar ordinances exist in other county areas.

Navy arms for gulf sail in 17-ship carrier convoy

The Pentagon plans inoculations for troops against germ warfare and sails a 17-ship carrier armada carrying 16,000 Marines and sailors to the Persian Gulf. Carriers America and Theodore Roosevelt join Saratoga, Midway, and Kennedy in a force reaching about 430,000 personnel near Kuwait.

ABC to air Gettysburg themed film tied to mini series

ABC plans a new Gettysburg themed television movie about Abraham Lincoln delivering the 271 word address at Gettysburg, with Jason Robards as Lincoln. The project mirrors Shaara’s Kaiser Angels but remains separate from the mini series with limited battle scenes filmed in the Atlanta area.
