Nine Year Old Karina Ferrfield's Art Show At Library

Karina Martens of Orrtanna R. Cashtown Elementary School nine year old fourth grader displays a one person show at Adams County Public Library. Her wide ranging media include wood reliefs of a child's face leaf stencils and ink drawings. Encouraged by Ron Linder she has taken an art course and her work spans last spring onward with a 1990s era eskimo scratchboard from second grade. She also embroider plays violin and rides horses. The exhibit runs through January.

Clowns Scheduled For Legion Kiddies Party

Six clowns from the Tall Cedars of Lebanon will entertain at the Albert J. Lenz American Legion Post 202 Christmas party to be held Saturday afternoon at 2 30 in the Eisenhower room on Baltimore Street Crimi Sebastian R Hafer said Charles W Anderson Harrisburg president of the Har risburg Forest No 43 group and Mike Nell Harrisburg director of the clowns said six or seven will attend The party starts at 2 30 with cartoons and the clowns perform at 3 Santa Claus and Mrs Claus will greet the kiddies.

Gettysburg Man Arraigned After DUI Collision

Jon F Powers, 25, of Gettysburg was arraigned before Magistrate Eugene S. Long on a driving under the influence charge after a two car crash on US Route 30, two miles west of New Oxford. Powers allegedly crossed into the opposite lane, colliding with Linda C. Conpat, 36, of Caribou Maine. Conpat was hospitalized at Hanover General Hospital. her daughter Julie Conpat suffered lip cuts.

Former county schools chief Francis M. Coulson spoke to the Gettysburg Adams County Torch Club urging early retirement planning. He advised focusing on a satisfying place, financial stability, and real income needs, and endorsed volunteering and avoiding letting children drive decisions.

ACTA complains of 25 percent county budget rise

Adams County Taxpayers Association criticized a 25 percent rise in the 1979 budget over the current year. John Homer questioned sheriff and county court projections while Wilbur F. Sites cited a 63 percent jump in the county communications center operating costs. Commissioner Robert Klunk attributed the rise to moving the center into a new courthouse and adding a second control operator. The sheriff’s department would need two extra deputies and a secretary due to the courthouse move, with closer work with the domestic relations department and potential vehicle purchase to transport juveniles.

Fire at Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity House Investigated

Fire marshal probes blaze at 343 Carlisle St Gettysburg started in a second floor bunk bed room. Trucker William Pasner alerted authorities after seeing smoke. door was forced open to wake occupants. The fire caused extensive heat and smoke damage across multiple floors with possible arson or accident.

Moose Plan Christmas Activities at Gettysburg Moose Lodge

Final plans outline a Kiddies Christmas party for children of members at the Gettysburg Moose lodge on York Street. The event Saturday at 2 includes Santa Claus visits, refreshments, and cartoons. Six homes won in Arendtsville Christmas decoration contest hosted by the Lions Club. Deer category top picks were Irvin S. Sicholtz on N High St, George C Fissel on N High St, and Melvin Gulden on Peart St. Overall winners: Hale Jr. on Main St, Heckenluber on Queen St, and Betty Leonare on Chambersburg St. Prizes ranged from 530 to 20 dollars. Executive Trek Attracts 20 Walkers for United Way

An Exec Trek by 28 persons from Gettysburg's Lincoln Square to the Dutch Pantry Restaurant raised 2100 for the Adams County United Way Fund Drive. The campaign totals, with outstanding gifts, aim toward 143.00 announced at the luncheon. Participants included Westinghouse staff, insurers, banks, and church leaders from Gettysburg and Fairfield.
