Eisenhower National Historic Site decorates the former president and Mamie Eisenhower’s home for the holidays in a display titled Christmas at the Eisenhower Farm. Visitors observe original details such as a shadow box with a small Christmas tree and gifts, a seven foot artificial tree, and a dining table set with sterling silver for the traditional Christmas feast. Open Wednesday through Sunday except Dec 25 and 26, with shuttle buses from the Gettysburg Visitor Center running 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Postmaster Stephen Golya Jr. announced a holiday schedule for the Gettysburg Post Office covering Christmas Day December 25 1980 and New Year’s Day January 1 1981. There will be no collection or delivery on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. the office will be closed. Normal collection and delivery will occur on December 24 26 31 and January 2 with standard window service.

GMA Raises Gettysburg Water Rates Fifteen Percent

Florence Hoopert, a Green Acres guest, marks her 100th birthday. Born December 20, 1880 in Adams County, she was the daughter of Daniel and Margaret Utz, one of four children and the sole survivor. She married Charles W Hoopert in 1914. they had four children. A short Musselman’s worker and wartime helper at the Mechanicsburg Naval Depot, she enjoys church services and time with others as Adams County Commissioners plan to present letters at today’s party.

Mt Joy Township residents file a second court challenge to the township junkyard ordinance.
