Abbottstown Fire Rages Through Six-Apartment Building
A six-alarm blaze at 169 King St Abbottstown gutted a two story building converted to six apartments. Gettysburg Fire Chief Dugald Wentz reported chef Timon Linn of Gettysburg Fire Company were rescued after being trapped. Linn is stable in hospital. About 200 firefighters from multiple agencies battled the flames until 4:30 PM with arson not suspected.

A New Oxford volunteer firefighter, Kathryn M Hippensteel, 26, is in serious condition at York Hospital after a fire truck she rode on flipped during a response to a blaze at a wood frame Abbottstown apartment building. Driver William Bertrand and Walter Fitzpatrick were treated and released with minor injuries. The cab carried both men. Hippensteel rode on the back step. Police investigation continues.
