Five Area Women Injured In Two Car Crash Near Bonneauville

Five area women were injured in a two car collision on Route 116 two miles east of Bonneauville at 12 50 a m. Dorothy M Kime and Pandora Lyan Morrison drove the westbound and eastbound cars respectively with both drivers treated and released from Warner Hospital. Passengers Mae Louise Sager Bessie Marie Reever and Esther Mery Schultz also treated and released. Police report Morrison’s Ford Mustang crossed the highway and struck Kime’s 1973 American Motors sedan. Fire company ambulance transported the injured.

Woman Seeks Damages After Gettysburg Car Collision

Virginia Louise Davis of Gettysburg sues Roberto Tanon in Adams County Court seeking 10,000 for serious and permanent injuries from a Oct 29 collision at Route 15 and Hoke Drive. Davis claims Tanon failed to yield, had no control, and did not see her car, resulting in hospital bills, medical costs, and car destruction.

Food Stamp Distribution Changes January 1

Adams County Board of Assistance plans new food stamp distribution rules effective January 1. Eligible clients will receive vouchers for a set value of stamps at no cost, replacing the prior purchase requirement. Vouchers will be mailed during the first five workdays monthly to stagger traffic and all changes will be reflected in January voucher computations.

Emmitsburg Woman Injured In Early Morning Crash

Patricia Ann Otis of Emmitsburg was treated at Warmer Hospital after a 1977 Cadillac was shoved into guard rails by a passing car on AS Ri 15 eight miles south of Emmitsburg at 2.15 am Sunday. The car left the road, struck six rails, plunged down an embankment, and came to rest among trees. Gettysburg Fire Dept ambulance transported her. Barlow firemen aided at the scene.

Farm Worker Held In Death Of Man In Adams County

Wille Mose Langles 59 of Biglerville is jailed in Adams County in connection with the stabbing death of roommate Ray Hill at their home near Quaker Lane three miles northwest of Arendtsville Menallen Township. Hill died at Warner Hospital from a chest wound after the 1 45 p m Saturday attack. The two men had lived and worked together on a mobile home crew for years and were drinking when the argument turned violent. Langles initially sought police help, ambulance later conveyed him. Local arrangements were handled by Anne Monahan Funeral Home. Hill was born in Meridian Mississippi, survived by his wife.

Christmas Concert At High School In Gettysburg

The Gettysburg High School Band orchestra and chorus present their annual Christmas Concerts on Thursday December 21 at 8 pm. The Senior High Chorus led by Theodore Gilbert performs On a Morning Crisp and Cold Sing, O Sing The Heavens Are Tell Me with Franz Josef Haid. Gettysburg sewer rates to rise 30 percent in January

Gettysburg Municipal Authority announces a 30 percent sewer rate hike to take effect January 1, 1971. Board President Aller Larson cites higher labor costs chemicals and electric power as causes. the increase aims to prevent operating deficits and affect all rate tiers from the first 1000 cubic feet to large usages with surcharges for high suspended solids.

National Guard Honors At Yale Dinner Awards

The National Guard unit of Battery B, 1st Battalion, 18th Field Artillery, awarded the Captain Ronald X. Forsythe Memorial Award at a Christmas Dinner attended by 110 in Hanover and Gettysburg. SSG Stephen J. Klunk, a two-year member, received the Non-Commissioned Officer Award for Training Year 1978, while SGT Jerry L. Statler earned the Specialist Award for active duty service and work at Stallers Upholstery. The honors honored CPT Forsythe, former commander who died in 1970, with Captain John HB Livelsberger presenting awards and other commendations going to SSG Edgar L. Hofe Jr., Donald L. Maring, Gerald E. McCauslir, and SSG Michael T. Sheads.

Winds Darken 3500 Homes in Adams County Storm

Power outages affected more than 300 residents as wind gusts up to high speeds lashed Gettysburg area. Adams Electric Cooperative reported three members affected, poles broken and a major line break near Pigeon Hills being repaired. Metropolitan Edison noted no lines blown down, though many outage calls due to broken insulators and transformer fuses. PennDOT saw minor damage from fallen trees and signs.
