Dorson Furniture Founder Dorson Dies in New York

Louis J. Dorson president of the L J Dorson company and director of Gettysburg furniture firms died at 11 p m Saturday after a cerebral hemorrhage. Born in New York City he built a national furniture sales network and led Gettysburg factories for decades. Funeral held in Riverside Memorial Chapel with interment at Mount Judah Cemetery Ridgewood Queens. Survived by widow Gertrude Lester Dorson son Richard M Dorson and two daughters.

Nine Extra Employees Start Work at Gettysburg Postoffice

Nine extra workers joined the Gettysburg post office today to handle the Christmas rush ahead of 1998. Postmaster G A Williams said the office processed about 900 sacks of incoming and outgoing mail. Four extra carriers, three parcel postmen, and two office clerks were added to the regular staff for the holiday week.

Adams County Plans $58,000 Rural Road Aid At State Convention

Adams county road officials opened their twenty second annual convention hearing an appropriation of about 58 thousand dollars for township road aid. The funds come from the state and cover May through year end with roughly eighty five dollars per mile for township roads. Attendees included 125 supervisors and clerks as committees were named to present reports and resolutions for the afternoon session.

Bus Line Seeks Loans to Back Bus Stop Mortgages

The Pennsylvania Greyhound Lines asked the Interstate Commerce Commission for permission to guarantee up to 150000 in notes representing mortgage loans to lunch and test stations on its bus routes. Camp Nawakwa Council Meets in Zion Lutheran Tour

The advisor cornel for Camp Namakwa near Brysonia held its amnual meeting in Zion Lutheran church Harrisburg Saturday. Miss LaVene Grove Harrisburg camp due wor reported on the mp for 1929. A total of 998 students were enrolled in the various camps with 4 furmor boys, 99 termediate boys, 78 junior girls, 258 intermediate girls, 8% xetror boys, 10 senior girls and 34¢ on the leadership training camp. Total of 2597 hours of erect were carried by the students of the camps. The camp program for 7940 remained substantially the same as in 1939 with a few changes recommended to be acted upon by the board of directors. Molson pictures of the camp in operation were shown, some in color. The pictures are available to any church upon request to the Rev Marshall Brenneman Mechanicsburg. Members of the committee from Adams county attending the meeting were Dr IY D Hoover and Dr Ralph D Heinhold of Gettysburg and Wice Rev George HL Berkneinier Arendlsville.

4 H Baby Beef Clubs To Organize Soon

Four H baby beef clubs will organize soon in Sir York Springs Biglerville and McSherrystown communities. Last week 41 purebred Hereford steers averaging about 400 pounds each were distributed to 14 youths in York Springs near Biglerville and 13 in the Sheirystown area. The new clubs include many youths from prior years and new members. the 1949 roundup site was Carlisle December 7 where 11 steers were selected for showing at the state farm show at RaNlsburg that month.

Hospital report notes admissions and discharges in Chambersburg

Mrs T J Myrick was admitted to Warner hospital in an ambulance and discharged today. Other weekend admissions include Mrs Charles Lightner of Bal Limote Street and Mrs Paul R Boyer of West Maddie Street. Mrs Edward Welch of Aspers Road was discharged Sunday.

Parked Car Damaged By Unknown Driver Near York Street

Borough officer Givne Ginne investigated a hit and run after a parked car on York Street was damaged around 10:15 PM Saturday. The other driver fled toward the town center as investigators searched the scene for the offending vehicle and driver.

Orrtanna Couple Celebrates Golden Wedding Anniversary

Mary Shaner Frits and George A Herring of Orrtanna marked fifty years of marriage December 15 1889 at the Orrtanna Methodist church with family present. School Bus Driver Faces Code Charge

Two Men and a Woman Die in Taneytown Area Crash

A late night crash on the Key Mar highway near Taneytown killed Day E Vaughn 22 a Reaser Verniture employee and two other youths Ray Kaser 15 of near Harney and Olga Laura Graham 21 of Taneytown. Vaughn died at Frederick hospital after the wreck as investigators listed speed as a factor. The driver Kiser died en route to the hospital and Miss Graham died at the scene. Car Wreck at Newman's Park Injures Edward Bollinger

Edward Bollinger of 20 North Washington street was injured when his new automobile skidded on a icy Lincoln highway section near Newman's Park west of here Saturday. He struck a pole and tree after the rear end swung, suffering cuts on the forehead and hands and bodily bruises. Bollinger was treated by Dr. C H Johnson in Chambersburg street.

Widow Beam of Goodyear Died After Ill Health

Mrs Mary Elizabeth Beam 78 widow of Feter Seam died this morning at her granddaughter's Goodyear home from complications after more than ten years of ill health. She was a Fay etteville native, daughter of Basil and Sarah Metew, member of Goodyear Lutheran Church. Survived by son Cletus Trust, Goodyear. granddaughter Mrs Beam and three great grandchildren.
